Question Has anybody used......

The competition Engineering rear shock x-member. Part # 247-3019? Or shock relocation bar, whatever you'd like to call it. I'd be interested to know who has "modified" their trunk floor as described in the instructions and how you did that. I'm simply going to cut off the upper part of the bracket that hits the floor, and use the "other" mount hole towards the bottom of the bracket. I'll order new shocks that have an "eye" style on both ends and call it good, since I'll have to cut off the "stud" style mounting hole that hits the floor. And how would you "modify" the floor? Put a pocket there that you couldn't get your hands in anyway? 20 years ago, before anybody made these kits, we welded a bracket with shock mounting tabs into the RS to relocate the shocks for another rearend application. Worked out great and it's still in the car, though not being used currently. I figured that since I'm getting older and a little bit lazy I'd just order a pre-fabbed unit that might even be nicer than our "homemade" unit. Well..... I like the fact that it surrounds the frame rails, and the welds look very strong and clean, the mounting tabs for the shock itself could've been installed to where the floor didn't have to be cut at all. Just a bit confused as to why they didn't bring that tab down. They could've, and should've. I'll post some pics as soon as I can get some.

Question #2. Besides the caltracs shocks that are available, which I most likely will buy, what cars out there used a double eye shock on the rear? The KYB shock I'm removing has a 13" fully depressed measurement, and a 21" fully extended. That's replacement stock for 67 camaro, which would've worked with this bracket if it didn't hit the floor. LOL I can use a shock with the same dimensions though I may lose an 1" of down travel. So, there it is. Show me what you guys did to a stock trunk floor pan to make this thing work. I'm not going to cut mine. Noooooo! LOL

Re: Has anybody used......

So after a fruitless search for a correct eyelet to eyelet shock for the application, (not wanting to go to a full drag style shock), I ended up modifying the bracket. So, I'm still just baffeled at why they wouldn't have just done this to begin with? Especially for a first gen camaro knowing they have a stud mounted style shock. Suggest that we "cut" the trunk floor. I'd rather relocate the mount. Really?
