tall upper ball joint look right?

I am mocking up my front suspension that includes proforged tall upper ball joints. I just wanted to confirm that this picture is what it should look like...the ball joint shaft diameter expands to set the distance between spindle and boot.

When I installed the Proforged tall upper ball joints, I also had a gap between the spindle and the boot. But prior to installation, I did install a piece of heater hose as David Pozzi suggested in the "pro-touring" link.
Below is a photo of what it looked like with the piece of black heater hose installed (see red arrow).
