C5 brakes and 15" wheels?

I am going to get some after market spindles and the C5 wheel hubs for my car. That means C5 brakes which is good! However, I want to keep my 15"s.... Wilwood dynalights? I don't know. Any help or a free set of 18"s would be appreciated.

I would give the guys at Speedtech a call. There is a set of brakes (SSBC I think) that are compatible with 15 wheels and their ATS spindles. Not cheap though.

I did the Cheap Big Brake conversion as outlined on David Pozzi's site. It was an El Camino, but procedure would be the same for a Camaro.

Used C3 rotors, which are about 12 inches. I still run 15 inch wheels.

Nice! I was reading about that but didn't know if it would fit the C5 wheel hub.

Re: C5 brakes and 15" wheels?

Here is the write up I did. Has all the part numbers and prices. It is more labor intensive than just swapping in a kit.

Not a great write up, as the story was not the priority.

I use the El Camino to tow up to 9000 pounds (there is another write up on team Chevelle about beefing up the rear and adding a hidden trailer hitch).

Car stops very well even with a load. For a street car, the 12 inch C3 rotors with truck pads and big rear brakes will stop as well as any of the aftermarket kits. Now, on the race track, no doubt you can do better with bigger brakes because of the brake fade on street brakes. But remember, on the street, if you can lock up all four wheels, you are not going to stop any faster with bigger brakes. Their only advantage is being able to dissipate even more heat with repeated stops. But, how often are you going to do that on the street?
