Pitman arm install.

As par of my front suspension troubleshooting I installed a new Moog Pitman arm part number K6582. I will only go on the shaft about an inch, leaving over an inch of spline showing above the arm. That is as far as it will go using an air impact. Lee's steering box. The old (stock) arm was seated ok.

We had the same issue with my buddy's 69 when we replaced his. Is this an issue? It steers ok. So does my buddy's.

Thanks
Joe

Joe, do you have a manual or power steering box?

Re: Pitman arm install.

If you put the arms side by each, do they look the same?

Have you looked at the splines? Are they machined all the way through?

Can you flip it over to see if it will drop in upside down (both the old and new ones)?

Re: Pitman arm install.

The arms look the same side by side. The arm goes on the shaft, just not far enough . It won't go on upside down
