69 Steering Column Question

This is going to be a strange question, but this is bothering me.
I just purchased a used steering column for my 69 Camaro.
It appears to says "69 Camaro RS" written on it but I'm not 100% sure.
Anyhow, looking at the factory column harness, it has wires in the common
areas, G, H, J, K, L, M, N and P, but then there are two thin wires, in E and F.
One is black and the other one is like a reddish/purple color.
Anyone know what these two wires were used for?
If it did come out of a RS, would they have anything to do with the hideaways?
Thanks

Re: 69 Steering Column Question

Is it possible the two wires are for the key buzzer switch ?. One wire goes to a terminal on one of the two on the driver's door pin switch and the other wire off of the column goes to the horn relay/key buzzer.

I would think if the column is out of the car and you were to connect an ohm meter to those two wires, then with the key inserted fully into the key tumblers, the internal contacts of the switch would close and then the meter would show a low resistance between the two wires. If the key is pulled out, then the switch would open and the meter show infinite resistance.

Re: 69 Steering Column Question

Good thought, I never even thought of the door buzzer.

Thank you
