IDIDIT column issues.

I was wondering if anyone else has had rust issues with the Ididit steering column? When it came, it came rusty, then the shop that is building my car had it re polished and coated with por clear, and remounted it, but now it's rusting again. I wrote the company last night and attached a picture of the column in question. Has anyone had any issues like this before, and what did you do to correct them? http://www.tri-phase-electric.com/IMG_01491.JPGMike

Re: IDIDIT column issues.

The column is steel and is meant to be painted. Clear coats will not stop rust from forming. The proper way would be to primer and paint.

Re: IDIDIT column issues.

I spoke with them today, and it has been a problem, so they are taking it back and sending me a clear powercoated one in exchange. Very good Customer Service.

Re: IDIDIT column issues.

I've known the owner of IDIDIT since I was about 5 years old. He is a good guy, and they are a great family. I don't have one of the columns yet, but I plan to as soon as I get to that point.
