Rod on '69 Steering Column?

When I turn the key it moves a rod on the steering column. Where do I connect it?
Thanks!

Re: Rod on '69 Steering Column?

As in the keyed ignition switch? Where does the other end toward the firewall connect? I must be missing a part.
Thanks!

The rods angled end goes up into the ignition switch that bolts on top of the column under the dash.

Re: Rod on '69 Steering Column?

one end goes into a rack gear which is turned by the key cylinder:

the other end goes into the silver box or ignition switch mounted farther down the column. it has several wires going into it. in this pick you can see the rod on the left side as it dispears into the box.
