Squealing when turning left

When I turn left I get what sounds like a Brake or Bearing squeal on the left front. I cannot for the life of me figure out which it is. The Brake pads and calipers have been checked and re-checked for any "looseness" and I have removed and re-packed the bearings on the left with hi-temp grease. What else could be going on? ...and what may I be able to do to further diagnose.

Thanks for any feedback.

Re: Squealing when turning leaft

Don't stop looking at just your wheel, inspect the whole front end for potential problems. Something might be coming loose and when you turn left the weight of the car only increases the stress on that part or parts. Do a visual inspection for any indications of rubbing metal to metal parts. Make sure everything is nice and tight.

Re: Squealing when turning leaft

Do you have power steering by chance?
What are the conditions - fast / slow turn, apply the brakes during the turn? etc etc.

Re: Squealing when turning left

It is power steering, but it really sounds like its coming from the left wheel. Also, The squeal "oscillates" a little to rotational speed of the wheel.

Applying the brakes while its squealing almost always stops the squealing immediately.

The brakes are SSBC front disc conversions. Installed last year.

Speed doesn't seem to effect the squealing...just turning left.

Thanks.

Re: Squealing when turning leaft

Are the brake pads worn? Is it possible the wear sensor might be scraping the rotor? Is the brake pad clip installed properly or missing causing the pad to shift?

Re: Squealing when turning leaft

The brakes are new (less than a year old).

Re: Squealing when turning leaft

Mystery solved. Dust shield was really close to the edge of the rotor in one spot (at the bottom of the rotor). I guess when I turned there was a little flex in the suspension... anyhow a little "pry bar" persuasion and the squealing was gone. Luckily there had been no damge to the rotor since it had been rubbing outside of the pad-contact area.
