Need help with booster assembly

I was given a front disc setup off of a 69 Elcamino and before I put in the booster and master I noticed the rod in the back of the booster that goes to the pedal was loose. The whole thing could pull right out of the booster. There is a big rubber bushing, an o-ring and washers on this. I put it in and tried it but the booster is not working. I just pulled it back out. Would this cause the booster to leak and not work? Is there any way to 'snap' it back in? Do I need to take the booster apart. Thanks, John

You need to disassemble the booster to reattach the rod, or verify if something is broken inside.
