Emergency Brake Problem

Hey, I just got my new (1969 Camaro) today and have one safety item that needs to be addressed and quick. The emergency brake is not operating correctly----- at full depression, the car still rolls (4 speed transmission). I'm handy with tools and can follow specific instructions, but I am not a trained/experienced mechanic. Can anyone walk me through the steps to properly adjust/set the emergency brake or refer me to a book/manual/set of instructions that will guide me? Or, is this a job I need to "leave to the professionals"? Thanks TC. Charlie

Re: Emergency Brake Problem

First are your rear brakes adjusted properly and the e brake line is hooked to the front shoe correctly? With the ebrake off, tighten the nut holding the cable loop until it is almost tight, then check it.

Re: Emergency Brake Problem

Look underneath the car and inspect the cables. Pull on them to check the tension. Is the Guide retainer there?
