Re: Where can I get moog coil springs

I got my front springs from a small Car Quest auto parts store near my house. I gave them the Moog part number. They were not in stock and had to be ordered. I had them in two days.

Moog has a warehouse (in Louisville) for parts distributors located here in central Ky.
if you don't have any luck in your area, I'd be glad to get a phone # for you;
you can order the parts from them and I'll deliver 'em to you August 18th when we come to the Woodward Cruise

Re: Where can I get moog coil springs

They are sold under the TRW name too--I got them at Advance Auto as
TRW CS6308. Ask for front coil springs for a 1969 camaro 6 cyl w/AC.

You can also buy them from Rock Auto.com

I have these springs--here's a pic with them in:

Summit sells Moog also.

Brent's car is a PRIME example of how YMMV with regard to springs, suspension, tire size and ride height. His front sits about an inch lower than my '67 with the same tires and springs.

Brent, what springs are you running in the rear?

Nice ride and love the vinyl top.

Re: Where can I get moog coil springs

I followed CFunk's lead entirely in rebuilding my front suspension and copied what he did--his ride height is perfect and the car is beautiful. I think I know his car's ride height specs better than mine thanks to his website. Thanks Chris!

The rear springs were installed in the mid-1990's and are from Napa (part number 21-245R)--I'm not sure what that breaks out to, but I'm satisfied with the height.

The current set-up does rub on the driver's side front at about the 11 o'clock position if I hit a dip in the road. I'm planning to have it aligned and hope that it toes in enough at the top to eliminate this problem.

Dan--did you decide where to get your springs?

Re: Where can I get moog coil springs

You could also use Moog 6320 springs. They have the same rate as the 6308’s but will ride 3/8 to 1/2 inch higher. This should help keep the tire off the fender when you hit a dip in the road.

Also when you have it aligned have them set the camber at 0˚ to -1/2˚ negative (the factory specs call for 1˚ positive). This will bring the top of the tire in and will hopefully cure the rubbing issue plus it will handle better.

I believe CFunk’s front end rides a bit higher than other cars with the 6308 springs. The front end height of Brentmc’s 68 is what you can expect with the 6308’s.

Re: Where can I get moog coil springs

Thanks everybody!!
Today I got cold feet on the 6308 springs and I ordered some 6320 from Summit Racing,(they will drop ship them and I will have them in two days)
I notice that with the 6308 springs that the 67/68 cars, would have a rub with 235/60-15 tires. The 67/68 have thoes nice radious wheel wells and my 69 are not as radious. So I ordered the 6320 spring.I have 15x7 with 4.5 b.s.rallyes.Tires are 235/60-15 front 275/60-15 rears.Next I will adjust the rear end height NEXT.

82 vettrin----Sorry, Maybe we can meet at the cruise anyways!!!
Is there a camaro meeting at the woodward cruise?

Re: Where can I get moog coil springs

Dan,

If you don't mind, post back with your front end height once you change out the springs. I'm interested to know the installed difference between the two springs.

Re: Where can I get moog coil springs

I agree with Steve's statement about my front end being a little higher than most with the 6308's. I might go the Hotchkiss route in the front to get another .5" - 1" drop and going with a 225/60/15 tire up front.

Talking Re: Where can I get moog coil springs

well---Here Is a update!!!
I just installed my new moog 6320 springs(wow!!! was it hot today) And the ride height is now 25 7/8 from the ground to the bottom of the fender. Now remember I have a 69 and they don't have the same wheel well openings as a 67/68.The front tires are 235/60-15 and the rallyes are 15-7 with 4.5 b.s.They fit great with only one exception,On a full lock turn they rub very-very little on the inside frame (only cleans the dirt off the inside frame) This is exceptible to me.In the future I may install a steering stop. Maybe
When I convert to the disc brakes everything will be OK.
Thanks EVERYBODY for you Help.

Re: Where can I get moog coil springs

I think '69 cast one piece rotor/hubs will move each wheel out like 7/16" or so vs drum hubs!

There is a difference in "height" or "J" (if you will) between the two where the wheel centers mount..

At least on '67 cars like mine.

I think David Pozzi has a pic of this on his great site if you want to look into it more..
