Installed 670 P.S. box...

I said I would let you all know how my install of my 670 steering box went in my '69, For the most part it was "H E double hockey sticks" ! (HELL).
I bought a flaming river "new" 670 box 14.1 ratio. Super quality box!
So, heres what happened...the box is a wee bit smaller than the 800 series box, aka stock or iroc box, BUT, its a 2 piece unit so where the valving section is, (back of box) its a wee bit bigger! It hit my #5 header tube...I had to trim the box for clearence (did not want to crush my header) as its very thick there and I wasn't scared to do so....but to grind on a $485.00 box...you get the picture. ARGH!
It took a lot of "ins and outs" of the car (more than 10 anyway, and thats fully installed to check clearence) to make it right, but its in...after 9 hrs!!!
For the most part it was just me...holding a header to the side with one hand and holding a steering box in the other is no small feat, but I was determined to make this fit!
So everyone knows, I have a bbc with 2" headers...as I said the 670 is a little smaller here and there, but not were I needed it...maybe a diff brand of header may have worked better, I cant say.
After 3 gallons of water, cramps I never knew you could get, some swear words that didnt exist til I made them up, and a little heat stroke (it was 90*+ outside, and 100-105 in my garage! 9hrs of that!) I finally drove the car....WOW, well worth the heat stroke and all the frustration...I know now what you guys are talking about! What a HUGE diff! My car is totally transformed...I guess if I knew all the probs I would have encountered, I may have gone to an IROC box, or a modified factory box, as the 800 series fits no prob in my car with headers. But I wanted a "new box" and was determined to make this one fit and I did.
All I can say is the 670 box is well worth the $$$, hands down. The valving is unreal!
SORRY about the long post, but I feel if I can help anyone about installing, I would be more than willing to help you, as thanks for all your help. Dave.
