Power Steering Noise

I took the camaro out for a spin around the block today and stopped at a buddies to help him with his 66 Mustang. While I was turning out of the driveway the steering wheel was at full lock and I was getting a hi pitched squeel. It didnt sound like a belt. I jacked up the front end and took the cap off of the pump and turned lock to lock. Fluid was full and I dint notice any air bubbles. Any ideas??

Re: Power Steering Noise

High pitch makes me think belt.

Check the tension & maybe use a bit of belt dressing on it, or a file on the edge.

Re: Power Steering Noise

I think thats normal. Did the sound stop when you let the pressure off full lock?

Re: Power Steering Noise

Yes the sound stops when you release from full lock. It is annoying, but just want to make sure nothing is wrong with the pump.

Thanks
