Power stearing pump bracket attached to head?

Is it necessary to have the 2 piece bracket that connects to the inside of the power steering pump? The 2 bolts are directly behind the pulley. It had A/C when the A/C compressor was removed, so was the bracket. Will the pump come loose or get out of alignment with out?

Re: Power stearing pump bracket attached to head?

I would think without the inside bracket, your pump might not stay in place under a load. This would lead to early failure and possibly the belt coming off. You should be able to find the bracket on ebay.
