Your opinion on tire size?

I ordered my rims for my 69 today, TTII's - fronts 17x8, 4.75bs and 17x9.5, 5.5bs for the rears. By the many posts I have read for the rears most are going with 275/40/17. But for the front I have seen both 235 and 245/45. Just want to know your opinion on which way to go and why. Thanks. Long live the first generation!

Re: Your opinion on tire size?

I have 245/45/17 with the same bs and rim size as you on my '69. I have zero rubbing anywhere with disc brakes.

FWIW I have 285/40/17 5.5 bs out back only because they were cheaper than the 275 at the time. I lowered the rear as well and added disc brakes, so I did have to roll the lips a bit.

Also wanted to add that my front has disc brakes and Eibach 1" lowering springs. And the rear has drum brakes and 3 leaf mono replacement springs. If that changes any suggestions.

Re: Your opinion on tire size?

I have 245/40/18's (4.75bs) on the front of my 69 and they rub the outer fender. My car is lowered 2" with Hotchis drop springs. I would go with the 235's. They also look better to me as well because they really straighten up the side walls on the 8" wheels.
