Wheel stud sizes

Buying new ARP studs for my car. What is the correct size and length for 12 bolt 1969 rear?

I know ARP's studs come long but it's not a problem, I will cut them to fit

Thanks for the help,

Rich

Re: Wheel stud sizes

An OE rear axle, use the 0.480" knurl.

I wouldn't cut ARP studs, or any brand, as the cutting process would remove the heat treatment, plus leave the end of the stud untreated and open for corrosion.

If using OE length or alittle longer, visit your local NAPA store and get Dorman studs.

Re: Wheel stud sizes

Everett, I have a cold saw so no heat is involed in cutting the stud.
My lug nuts are specially made for the wheels, if too long the lug nut wont tighten completly.
I really appreciate the information.

Re: Wheel stud sizes

Again like Ev said, just go to a good Parts Place and look through their great big drawer of studs and go!!

What length do you need?

Come back!!

I was more worried about the Dia. than the length.
When I took off my wheels to put my Baer brakes on, two studs fell right out!. I was on Summits website looking at the ARP studs and wasn't sure about the Dia. because I was at work.

No harm no foul, I got home and found out I ordered the correct Dia studs. The ARP's were only $37.00 for both wheels.

Re: Wheel stud sizes

You might consider having a good Machine Shop drill them 1/2" and threading them and using Grade-8 hex-studs and Althread bolts.

I had Mosers do all of mine when I went w/ the Pony-car "Bullitt" wheels.
