Tires rubbing need help!

I recently purchased a set of 17"x7" TT II's 4"BS with 225/50R 17 tires for the front of my 69 Camaro. The tires are now rubbing on the the outer fender lip. The tire dealer said he would exchange the rims for me with additional backspace. My question is how much backspace would I need for this setup. The tire only looks like it needs a little more clearance a 1/4" to 1/2".

This is a firt time post and any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Jeff

Where is it rubbing?

Sometimes, just the removal of the top inner fender bolt will do the trick. If it's shiny,it's rubbing.
If not,a 4.5" b/s will work nicely on a 7" wheel.

Re: Tires rubbing need help!

I'm surprised that rubs, mine are same same except for 16" so maybe a lil shorter overall. My car's low too, and they don't rub.

Have you had a front end alignment lately?
Running a lil neg camber can help that and a lot more.

It's hitting on the center fender bolt. I removed it, but with two people in the car it still rubs. Would a 4.24 BS help the problem.
The car was aligned about a year ago, still handles well, no pulling.

Yes ideally its 17x8 4.75, thus 17x7 4.25 would place the rim far enough away. Your rims are 1/4" closer than ChevyHiPerformance recommends.
Switching to a 235/45 might also help.
