Will '99 Corvette Wheels fit my 69 SS

Hello all,

I am looking at some low dollar light weight wheels for my 69SS that will accomodate big brakes (13", C5). I found an ad for a set of 99 Corvette wheels that are 17x8.5 in front and 18x9.5 in rear. In the stock back spacing configuration will these wheels work if I use the right rubber? If so, can you recommend some tire sizes?

Thanks for your input.

Jereme - With those '99 Vette wheels the backspacing is going to be about 7" or so, more in the back a bit less in the front. You'll want about 5.5" bs on a 9.5" wheel out back and on a 8.5 up front you'll need 4.75" - 5" of bs. 8.5" wide on the front would really be pushing things too... You could use a wheel addapter but the cost of $200 -$300 might take the wind out of your sails, making low buck wheels not such a good deal.

the 99' wheels arent even that good looking IMO, although the 2000 and up think spoke c5 wheels are nice.

Thanks for the feedback, even if it is not great news...

Regarding the 2000 and newer wheels -- would I have the same backspacing issues?

Thanks again.

Yes... If you look around there are copies of the various Vette wheels being made with old car back spacing...

Re: Will '99 Corvette Wheels fit my 69 SS

Thanks! I looked at the sticky with the pics and have decided to increase my wheel budget and get some rolling stock that will fit for certain. I appreciate your help.

Re: Will '99 Corvette Wheels fit my 69 SS

If you're sticking with 17-18's...when I bought mine the rule for a non-mini tubbed car was.

17x9.5 with 5.5 inches of BS REAR
17x8 with 5 inches of BS(drum) 5.25 inches of bs(disc) FRONT

Might want to use another quarter inch of Backspacing on the rear if you're running rear discs.
Good luck,
