Re: Tire and Wheel Size

15x7 or 15x8 Rally Rims with 4.25 inches of Backspace will work well with 255 60 15 Tires. 275s will rub.
On the front I recommend 225 60 15s on a 15x7 Rim with 4.25 inches of Backspace.

The above advice will work. I have the Hotchkis TVS kit on my car with no coil spring isolators. Because I have a new set of Cragar S/S that I want to use the rubber off of, I am running 225/60R15 with 4 1/8" backspacing in the front = NO rubbing. I was running 255/60R15 on the rear with NO rubbing. Right now I have 235's on the back just to wear them out. I have 500hp in my 408" and the 235s are goinng fast!

Are you running 275/60R15 with NO rubbing? I don't think you can go much wider.

'67 'Vert (408" SBC), V-Rod, Street Glide, and too many other motorcycles to list.

Re: Tire and Wheel Size

I have been running McCreays 285/60/15 SH's (sh = short) on 15 x 8's with 4.5" backspace and they do rub on hard corners and off camber bumps. I have the same issues at anything below 40.(3.73's here)
I borrowed a pair of 275/60/15's Mickey Thompson Drag Radials and put on my wheels... they did look a lot smaller (1.5" to be exact) and never cam close to rubbing. They are the ticket and will solve your problem. Well, mostly.

Re: Tire and Wheel Size

I run a few sets, including a set of 15x8 Weld Prostars with 4.5" backspacing and 28x12.5x15 Mickey Thompson ET Streets. I have Caltrac split mono leafs and Caltrac bars. Zero rubbing.

Re: Tire and Wheel Size

I believe the Caltrac mono leafs reduce unnecessary squat and sway and prevent tire rubbing.

Re: Tire and Wheel Size

Just measured my tires off the car... actual 12" sidewall to sidewall.

They rubbed on the inner wheelwell, now cords are showing Now going with MT DR's at 275/haven't decided 50's or 60's/15.
