Rechroming Cragar Wheels

I just picked up a set of vintage cragar s/s wheels for my car which are the right bolt pattern and have some peeling in the centers and some chrome rust along the edges, overall in very good condition so my question is does anyone have any good experiences with any platers as i would like to make them perfect as possible at a reasonable cost.
I have contacted a place called Stockton Wheel in California which seems to have the lowest quote so far
Thanks for any help

Re: Rechroming Cragar Wheels

i would think a local shop should beat that quote after shipping. the local ones here in sacramento, which isn't far from stockton, does work by the 'driver' and 'show car' standards and the 'driver' plating is pretty reasonable.

What was the quote. Wouln't it be cheaper to buy new ones. In NY plating is pricey..

Depends on the wheels, he said his are the right pattern?
That tells me these are the older style, pre-unilug wheels. Thatsa good thing.
New Cragars in 14 or 15" sizes have all been unilugs for many years.

Yes, they are the old style not the unilugs and the quote was 175.00 per wheel as i just want a good quality job which so far i cannot find locally and since i picked up the wheels for next to nothing i do not mind putting the money into these rather than buying the new unilugs

These wheels are period correct and you would want show chrome. Check in Hemmings catalog or www.hemmings.com

Paul's Chrome is good. JimM just got an intake chromed, he has pictures of it in EFI.

Actually, I got it PermaStar coated!
It's a powdercoat that looks like chrome. It might be worth talking to them, they do a lot of wheels.
