Re: Mini tubs> what do you guys think?

I bought my car already with mini tubs (Detroit Speed) and I love it. I am running a 335/40/17 rear[IMG] tire. Everybody loves the stance of this car.

They had the DSE test car at a local show recently. I believe they had 335s under it. AWESOME!!!
I have in my plans to use the mini tubs too.
It is my understanding, they offer an installation video. And the price they charge for it goes toward the kit if purchased later. (I could be wrong, so ask them when you call)

Re: Mini tubs> what do you guys think?

The kit is well done. All the high dollar pro-touring cars are using it. So that says something about the quality. The rear tub takes a 335 tire on a 12" wide wheel. Backspace depends on rear width. Combine that with the DSE or Art Morrison front sub frame with takes a 275 tire on a 10" wheel and you would not believe how the car handles and rides. Of course this all comes with the appropiate financial penalty. What's that saying you get what you pay for?

Re: Mini tubs> what do you guys think?

The kit is very complete and well designed. The installation video (DVD) is a quickie and could be better. But, the final product looks great. I used the kit with a 3" drop and the 335/35/18 tires I have fit like a glove. I used 18x12 Budniks rims with 5 1/2 back spacing.

I bought the Mini tub kit and rims and tires first, installed the mini tub kit and mocked up the tires to get the perfect placement. Then I ordered a shortened rear end from Moser. This allowed me to get the fit and look I wanted. The 335 tires fit with about 3/4" clearance on each sides, but you better get everything perfect to get the tire in.

Prototype28,
What make of tire are your 335/40/17's? Are you sure that is the size? I see 335/35/17 tiresare available.

I am running a 345/30/19 on mine. You have to use a 4 link or similar setup however.

Question Re: Mini tubs> what do you guys think?

Prototype28,

I'm currently installing my DSE mini-tub.

Which wheels are you using? I haven't seen a vendor that lists the 17x12 (required?) for the 335s. All I am seeing is 17x11s.

Any information you can provide about your tires and wheels is appreciated!

Re: Mini tubs> what do you guys think?

I'm sorry for the mistake!!!! They are 335/35/17. Dunlop is the manufacture of the tire (dunlop sp sport). The rear rim is a 17/11 which is made by american racing!!!

Re: Mini tubs> what do you guys think?

Fantastic. Thanks!

Any issues with the 17x11s with the 335s?

meangene: sorry to highjack your thread a little. I hope you are getting something out of the questions along the way.

Re: Mini tubs> what do you guys think?

No issues at all!! No rubbing at all on rear fenders. I do not push the car hard through the corners because the car has a procharger on the motor. To fit a procharger on, you have to push the front left inner fender in. My front wheels do rub because of this on the left side. I want going to purchase a new detriot sub frame to help solve this. Any more questions, let me know!!!
