Pace car wheel size

Did the 69 pace cars come with 14 or 15 inch tires....7 in or 8 in? Thanks

But does the wheel codes really tell us, i.e. XJ, XT, etc. What the differance between a standard 14" steel wheel that was on a Impala compared to say a 14x7 XT steel wheel? Some code I'm assuming meant the wheel was for a Corvette, etc., but really was the differance in the wheels?
