blackwall vs whiteletter tires...vote

Which do you prefer blackwall tires or those with letters? Can the color of the car make a difference in how they look?

It depends on the model/year car for me.... older Camaros (!st and 2nd gens) look better with lettering.... newer cars look better without.... IMO

White letter!

'cept on large dia rims, but they don't make wl tires in 17, 18, or bigger.....would look funny anyway on big rims...

I like the look both ways. The wheel can make a difference in my choice, but it's simply a matter of personal preference. I guess if I had to choose, I'd choose blackwall tires for 1st gens.

Learning & Relearning about the cars I grew up with.

Me too the trad blackwall... either with the thin red or white stripe. Think that the letters would mean just more stuff to keep clean and keep up to snuff... but, it's a personal pref.

White letters on 68 and 69's! Red pinstripes only on 67's. Blackwalls dont belong on 1st gens!!

I agree with Fred, white letters on the older cars, blackwalls on newer. The only exception is if the car has been totally customized, i.e. pro touring, pro street, etc. Then I like the blackwalls.

BTW brickyard, the tires on my 15" ralleys are white letters.

I like the white letters & outlined white letters on ralley or stock style wheels. I like blackwall on aftermarket and larger diameter wheels.

Not only my preference but...
My 69 now has raised white letters on my rallys (by choice).

The larger diameter wheels destined for the car will (most likely) have blackwalls.

Re: blackwall vs whiteletter tires...vote

Depends.
Early generations with rally or era correct wheels = white letters out
Any generations with 16+" wheels and low profile tires = blackwall

Well........15" Ralley wheels look good with white letter tires. Anything else whether it be not stock or a larger diameter than 15" I like blackwalls.

Re: blackwall vs whiteletter tires...vote

As long as the white letters aren't too polluting, I like 'em on first gens. those Winston Winners are way too busy for me, but I really like the BF Goodrich radial T/A solid white letter tires.

I think the original type good year polyglass white letters look great too on muscle cars of all sorts-
