Clearance issue

Which of the following will fit the front of a 69 better, 15 x7 w/ 3.75 bs or 15 x 6 w/3.25 bs. Also a tire recommendation would be great. Dont want any tire rubbing issues. Thanks

Re: Clearance issue

The 6" rim with 3 3/4" BS will exten out toward the fender lip 1" less than a 7" rim with the same backspace. (Since the backspace is the same, all the added rim width is on the outside.)

I won't comment on actual fit on a 69 tho. My rims, with 3 7/8" BS on a 7", clear fine on a very low 68 with 225 tires.

Re: Clearance issue

Brian...

The less the backspace the more it will stick out. Then add in the width of the rim and it will stick out that much more.

A 15x8 rim with 4.5 backspace will stick out the same as a 15x7 rim with 3.5 backspace. And if you have aftermarket disk brakes it will stick out about a 1/2 in more.

Re: Clearance issue

they aren't going to fit the same

7" - 3.75" = 3.25" sticking out from the hub

6" - 3.25" = 2.75" sticking out from the hub

but like JimM i don't want to recommend which will work for you
but I will say that the 6" wide rims are much more likely to fit without a problem

in truth, I would probably go with the 7" wide rims (they only stick out an 1/8" further than JimM's)

Re: Clearance issue

I had Fenton Slotted Mags, 14" x 7" w/ 3.5" b/s and E-60's on my front for years. Still mounted up on my shelf.

IT AIN'T WORTH THE HASSLE to me, use stock at 15" x 6" w/ 3.75" b/s and not have any fitment issues!

That extra inch is the killer unless the b/s is 4.75!!
