18"x10

i know there are tons of post on here regarding wheel and tire sizes. my question is; since 18"x9.5 are not available in most wheel options from what i have seen, then would a 18"x10 fit?

i have a 68 with no changes to the suspension.

thanks,
Brian

I've see some '69's with 18 x 10's in both 5.5 & 5.75 B.S., but from what I hear, they do not fit without some inner fender well "massaging" and rolling the outer lips in.. Unless you have mini-tubs of course..

That's pretty much the story! Your particular car may be the determining factor. This is max size so everything is a factor. Original sheet metal - ride height - same amount of room on both sides - wear and tear - even if all that is just right you still may be rolling lips and pounding in inner wheel houses. Good luck!

No 91/2" Most all wheel companies have 9 1/2" I thought, what wheels are looking at? I have 9 1/2" on my car and all the wheels that I looked were available that way.

Re: 18"x10

The problem with the 10 is it will make the section width about .2 to .3 wider then a 9.5 rim, which is just enough to cause trouble. If you do a 10, I would do a 6" backspace, then if you need to shim a 1/8 to 1/4 to get it exact, you will have the wiggle room. With 4" out your pushing it to the max on the outer wheelhouse.

What brand of wheels are you looking at?

Re: 18"x10

Im running 18x10's with 275/40/18's. I do have trimmed fender lips though. Car is lowered 3" in the back as well. I went with 5.75" bs on mine.

Re: 18"x10

6D9, do you think you could have moved the tires in a 1/4" (1/4" more backspace) and prevented having to trim the quater panel? Or is there just no room on the inner wheel well?

Re: 18"x10

I am also running a 18x10 with stock wheel tubs and 275/40 tire on my 69. No trimming and no rubbing. Just check and double check you measurement for backspacing, There is not a lot of room for error. My car is also lowered 2".

Hey JButler, what size are your fronts tires/rims? Your car looks pretty good too!

Not on my car....5.75 max. Every now and then I will get a slight rub on the inner wheelwell. Nothing big though. I really like the way the 275's look on the 10" wide wheel. The sidewalls are very square and makes the tire look wide. Most think my car is mini tubbed but its all stock. By the way I plan on getting ahold of you soon to pick your brain on what set up to run for willwood brakes on mine!
