Dana 60, is this a good deal

I have a opportunity to get a Dana 60 that came out of another 68 it has 488 full spool 35 spline axles, new bearings new seals and 11 inch drum brakes for $300.. This is going to be a occasional track car so I dont know if its waaay overkill, But then again that might be ok...I have a small 10 bolt behind my 460 big block now that know as soon as i put slicks on will pretzel. I dont really drive the car much and I know the issues with the spool on the street.
But can I get some thoughts on this please..thanks

No, he is saying with that much gear and strength, put some big rubber under it and go for some real traction.

yep. 400hp 1st gen daily drivers cant get enuff traction. I thought that since the rear was so stout and you were gonna see some track time, get some good meats.

Thanks Paul.

Re: Dana 60, is this a good deal

ya i have a set of MT 10 inch ET Streets, and access to some drag radials too.. I run Cal Trac's too. I have multi leaf springs and im thinking to go with those new Cal Trac half leaf set ups (whatever there called)
Im just hoping the Dana set up with the spool isnt tooo much ya know....its gonna end up alot more drag set up than when I initially intended, Its closer to 500HP too.lol but hey I dont really drive it THAT much and all my buddies race at the track anyways

Re: Dana 60, is this a good deal

I found that in the area of 500-ish, single leafs and Cal-tracs got me the best traction.
