You should be ok with the proper offset and/or back spacing. It's been 10 1/2 - 11 years since I mounted tires & wheels on a customer's car. That being said back then P235/60/R15 was quite common. P245/45/17 is actually a little smaller in circumference and overall diameter which are two key elements in getting tires to clear. The tread width isn't obscene like a P315/35/17 on the back of an early to mid 1990's ZR1 Corvette which I'm familiar with.

I run P235/60/R15's all the way around on my 1969 w/ 15x7 Chrome Rally's on the car. I believe the back spacing on that may be 4.25". I left the car business in early 1998 so it's been a while. I tried copying & pasting a comparsion chart but it did not work. Try this link out. http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCal...?action=submit

Best of Luck w/ your efforts!! And welcome to Team Camaro!!

First 245/45/17 tires require a 7.5" min wheel width but lets say you mount them on 7" wide wheels anyway, what back spacing are your wheels? If you have disc brakes your 7" wide wheel will need a 4.25" backspacing to fit the 245/45/17. But to fit will need button head inner fender bolts, good suspension and body bushings and will still have a slight lock to lock rub on the subframe. To run those tires you really should have an 8" wheel with 4.75" bs and disk brakes.

I found the 235/45/17 a much better fit, it's .4" narrower in the section width and .3" shorter. On the same 8" wide wheel with 4.75" bs it still scrubs the subframe when turning lock to lock... It too should be on a min 7.5" wide wheel.

You might want to try a 235/50 on that 7" wheel it's really close to the 235/60/15 in overall dimensions and like Greg points out the 235/60/15 is a very common size used on '69's... What are you thinking about for the rear?

Re: 1969 245-45-17 On front

Thanks for the help guys. I mounted 215-55-17 on the front for now. I ordered summo tires 235-45-17 for the front but they looked liked they were for the back. REAL WIDE. I mounted those but they are a little to tall (the 215-55-17). Different brands are different sizes so i cant find one that dont rub on the front. These are 7 in. wheels on the front. I have drum brakes on the front also.
