5" BS enough on 17X9s w/ 255/45/17s

Can anyone help me to determine if 17X9s with only 5" BS and 255/45/17s will fit under my 69 without rolling the lip. I know there's alot of info on 17X9s with 5.5, but not much clarity on 9" wide. Thanks in advance for everyone's help.

Ryan - Did you mean 17x9.5 w/5.5 bs? Anyway let's comparing all 3...

9.5" wide w/5.5"bs = 4" from the pad (mounting surface) to the outer rim (fender lip side).

9" wide w/5"bs = 4" from the pad (mounting surface) to the outer rim (fender lip side). 1/2" more inner clearence.

9" wide w/5.5"bs = 3.5" from the pad (mounting surface) to the outer rim (fender lip side). 1/2" more outer clearence.

With drum brakes you can run the 255/45 on a 9.5 w/5.5bs and might encounter slight inside scrubbing when the car flex's when turning and going down a driveway. With disc brakes and the same combo the inside scrubbing doesn't happen but the tire will be about 3/8" closer to the outer fender and you'll most likely want to trim away part of the fender lip.
