Best tires for smoke

What are the best tires to do a smokey burn out with? Hard or soft compound? Brand names?
To be used in a burnout competition.

Hard, old, used, and free, cause you are only wasting them.

Also watch out for old steel belted radials, when the belt flys off it will hit the 1/4 panel.
Ask how I know?

I thought I had seen a lot of things in my time, but tires designed for color-smoke burnouts -- that's a new one on me!

Re: Best tires for smoke

I would get a set of bias ply tires and in a fairly hard compound. You do not want to blow a steel belted radial if you like your car. See if you can get some used tires from a circle track racer (dirt tires work fine too). That way if you pop one the damage will be minimal.

Re: Best tires for smoke

Dont use bleach, it will make smoke BUT it is very corrivse (how is that spelled)
clorine will rot anything, that is why anything around a pool is good grade stainless.
Will make toxic fumes drag strips outlawed many years ago.
