Question 67 camaro rims upgrade

my 67 camaro looks good, i bought it in 1989 for 2500 bucks, was alot of money for me back then anyways it has the same rims that i had when i graduated high school back then,

2 skiny tires like on the track skinny and 2 big fat arse tires in the back really wide, i mean wide enough to always scrap the side of th street, anyways my 68 is all original has same size tires all around with cargar ss, i am thinking about buying diffrent rims for the 67 like american racing torque thrust II, i just dont know anything about american racing or whether or not the rims are ok for that old of a car, i thought american racing went all the way back to the 50s i cant remember, i am having difficulty determining if i should get 15x8 or 15x7 and dont know if the wheel spacing is 41/2 or 4/3/4 the 67 looks like its taller or has more back wheel space that the 68 thus i could be mixing ideas in my head because if i got to small of a rim im afraid it would leave to much open as far as whel well space and i kind of want to close that pace with rim and tire any suggetsions?

Re: 67 camaro rims upgrade

Lots of discussion for the TT2 wheels on a 67-68 in this thread:

https://www.camaros.net/forums/showth...&highlight=TT2

Although the discussions focus on larger diameter wheels (17 inch), the backspacing and overall diameter (wheel plus tire) dscussion should help you.

Also, if you search "TT2" here, lots more threads pop up.

Re: 67 camaro rims upgrade

thanks i have gone through quite a bit today, i called jeggs and removed my rims which are center line alluminum bullett type tires and was told to measure etc, anyways the back tires are

15 inch 265 50 15 inch rims which a back space of 4.5 the front are really skinny at 165 80 15, i had a hard time telling the techs that i just want new rims all around the same darn size, i like the torque thrust ii but after seeing many cars with them including the newer mustangs etc, i simply choose the cragar ss again, i couldnt get really any good solid tech support at jeggs but simply decided to go safe and get 15x7s for some reason the chrome steel is about 40 bucks cheaper than the tt2s aluminum polished, i kind of scared with them as i always hit curbs etc, and i just dont know about the tt2s they do look nice but if you mess up the clear coat polish i dont know and they dont look vintage they look more retro but they do look very nice.. i guess its just preference my 68 has cragars and i was thinking about getting away from them but for 4 rims under 600 with shipping incl i guess i have to stay focused especially in this economy .
