That's what happens when you mount f70-15's on a 17"x8" wheel... The trick is getting it to hold air!

Looking good Jim maybe good for .2 or .3

Re: New Tires!!!

My 99 SS dead hooks with the 315 555r's on it. I'm only at full bolt-on status right now, so its only making about 330 or so to the tires.

The best air pressure to run in them on the street is 30 PSI. This will give you an even wear pattern.

Jim
I'm gonna say 12.38 with a 1.76 60'.
Oh and hey now I'm not the only one running 275/40R17's on an 8" rim even though most manufacturers call for at least a 9".

Re: New Tires!!!

JimM may have wanted increase MPH by installing them on a narrower rim so the tire 'balloons' across the tread. This increases diameter by centrifigal force.

They look nice at any rate. Good luck.
Now you're gonna need larger U-joints...........or carry an extra driveshaft to the track.
Then this means a trailer, Snowball Effect here.........

Re: New Tires!!!

Same hear I couldn't find any rims I really liked in 17x9's with the backspacing I needed. But I agree they look and fit fine.

Re: New Tires!!!

4 1/2"

With the 255's, I had a lil more than 2 fingers behind the fat part of the tire. The 275's are gonna fit (I hope.)

Jim Like I said I'm running the save size tire and wheel package and I have over 3/4" to spare on the inside on both driver and passenger sides.

Re: New Tires!!!

You got a driveshaft loop on the vert? Just in case!! Should hook much better than the street radials did for you. My guess would be 12.4xs / 112 / 1.8x 60' . when are you planning on taken her out? Let me know!

FYI..........been reading at a site that is strictly for drag racing stick cars and the consensus there is drag radial are not the best choice for a stick car, really should run a bias ply. Apparently the radial side wall gets hit so hard it acts like a spring when the torque is applied and the recoils back the other direction unloading the tire. Just what I read but it kinda makes sense.

Tom
