Upgrade to 15x8 ralley from 15x7 ?

I have four 15x7 rally wheels. I want to put more rubber out back. Out front dont matter... Does it make ANY sense to buy two 15x8 rally wheels to get whatever I can fit back there without tubbing or rolling or doing anything drastic (and hopefully NO rubbing). Or will the max size tire fit just as well on a 15x7. The way I see it theres no reason to throw money away, the budget is tight. Im excited because Im close to being able to drive the car again. Finally, Oh my!

Gotta love my grammar. Even if u dont!

I was wondering the same, do the rims say what size they are anywhere. I already have tires mounted on them and figured it would be hard to get an accurate mesurement. Sounds like we are on the same page, Fatties out back skinnies on the front.

Unless you have a trained eye most people will not be able to tell if it's a 15x7 or 15x8. The best thing to do is look at photos online of the wheels. The wider wheel will actually increase your contact patch across the width of the tire & push the tire outward, hence putting more tire on the ground. The world will tell you your car will blow up & you will die if you put too wide of a tire on too skinny of a wheel; That's not always the case. On my old 1969 I ran the factory 14x6 wheels all the way around. I had P245/60/R14 up front and L60x14 bias ply JC Penney Scat Trac 60 series in the rear LOL!! Hey give me a break I was a young kid back then barely old enough to drink legally and did alot of dumb things.

If you can fit 'em in the back a 15x8 wheel with some P275/60/R15's looks good in the rear!

Now as far as the wheel size you can take it to any reputable tire shop and they will measure it with a set of wheel calipers which will tell you the size even if a tire is mounted on it. If the tire is not on it, lay the wheel on a flat surface and measure rim to rim.

on the back of the rim there are markings stating the rim size. they maybe impossible to find due to years of road grim build-up but they are there. if you cannot find them, the most accurate measurement is with the caliper and most tire dealers should have one.
