14 or 15 Rally Wheels

I am getting ready to order my wheels and am trying to decide on 14 vs. 15 inch Rally wheels. I went through all 30 pages of the wheel pics (which are great) but I can't get a good idea for how big of a difference the 15's are over the 14's. Any advice out there or side by side comparison pics?

Re: 14 or 15 Rally Wheels

Bill...
Look at the depth ( 3" ) of the Rallye wheel on my car in my profile. The back space is 4.5 and allows wider tires. My rears are 255-60-R15 and the fronts are 225-60-R15. The rear tires are better than 11" wide All are 3'' wide trim rings. I like that look.....

Bill,

My Z-11 (conv) has 215/70/14's and the Z-10 (coupe) has 215/70/15's. This is about the best pic I have that shows them side by side. I say go with 15".

Re: 14 or 15 Rally Wheels

Just to complicate things for you...I saw a 68 at a show that had 14's on the front and 15's on the back, and it sat and looked really cool. Had an almost lowered look. I on the other hand have 15's that are painted the same color as my car and all chromed out with the rings and centers,I like it a lot actually because its unique, but I can't claim it...saw it on a corvette at a show once and thought it looked good!!

Re: 14 or 15 Rally Wheels

The big difference is an inch.
Just kidding.

I threw 14" Cragars on my '69 a couple weeks ago and choked at how small they were in the wheel wells. They came right back off. Looked like Honda wheels on a Fleetwood. And my car is already lowered too.
Granted the tires were a middle-of-the-road profile.... not 70's and not 50's. I don't know what size they were but I didn't care when I saw the low-rider hydraulic suspension look they gave the car.

Re: 14 or 15 Rally Wheels

The difference in appearance may be more lik 2-3 inches depending on the beauty ring used.I run 15" rallys with a small beauty ring like in this auction

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CHEVY...Q5fAccessories

I think they are original to a s-10. The full size trucks had a step in the lip instead of being smooth. These rings are only 1 3/4" wide or so. The original rings go much deeper to the center of the wheel and give the illusion of a smaller diameter. The 15" with S-10 style rings look really nice IMO.I don't have a pic handy or I would show you.

Re: 14 or 15 Rally Wheels

Good info. I have a set of 15x7 wheels on the front right now with a temporary cheapo set of 70 series tires for the build but the car sits so high. I am wondering if the 14's would help. That's a 14 in the back with a 60 series tire...
