4th gen wheels on a 1st gen

i know this has most likely been covered a hundred times. i've seen it in magazines 6 years ago, but i cain't find it here by searching for 17 inch factory wheels.

so, what exactly do i have to do to put the chrome 17" ss wheels on my first gen. are the front wheels going to be to wide? my rearend is from a second gen so i'm 61 1/2 wid ein the rear now.

thanks

Some discussion buried in this thread: https://www.camaros.net/forums/showth...=4th+backspace

It's not so much an overall width issue, it is a backspace/offset issue. The fronts take quite a spacer to make fit, and that would scare me.

Not many 1st gens will run a 9" wide wheel on the front no matter what the back spacing without removing or modifying the inner fender. To bolt them up you need adapters not spacers. Figure on $200-300 for adapters just to get started then you have to deal with the inner fender on the front...

Re: 4th gen wheels on a 1st gen

i found a few post by searching 4th gen wheels. i prefer not to use the spacers/adapters. my rearend is 61 1/2 wide. that is not going to leave me with much depth in my rear wheels.
thats why i was thinking of going to a 4th gen wheel style. i guess my search continues.
