ARE CL205 TT II's on '69 JL-8

My buddy wants to put some 17 x 9 and 17 x 11 CL205's on his 69. They come with 6.81" or 6.26" backspace on the 9's and 7.77" on the 11's. Other backspace sizes are available on order, but we were wondering if these sizes will bolt onto the '69.

Needless to say none of the dealers have been much help.

Thanks,
Bruce.

No way.

That sound like late model Corvette backspacing. Assuming a stock subframe and rear end,

The widest you can go is a 17 x 9.5 in the rear with 5.5 BS

The widest you can go in the front is 17 x 8 with 4.75 BS

Check out the first Camaro's wheels in the 69 Wheel Gallery.

Best o' luck! I hear that the 17's are way easier to get that the 18's from AR these days.

-Cheers

I have a set of 15x8 Minilite wheels for my JL8 car which have 4.5" backspacing but I have never bolted them on yet to verify the fit. Those 17x9 backspacing numbers sound off too much. Definitely take your time to verify the numbers. I had a set of 16x8 Vintage Wheelworks V45's I think were 4.75" backspacing but I would have to check some old info to verify that fit.

Thanks guys, We did bolt up some 17 x 8's and did some hokey measuring, but we lost those numbers. We'll have to go custom backspace (more $$$) It is a race car (ex T/A) so body mods are inevitable. The CL 205's are close to the original Torq Thrusts, but he can use modern rubber at non real vintage events.

Hey Jeff, did I buy some Traco heads from you a while back ?

Appreciate the help,

Bruce.

I forgot all about Phill Schmidt. He has a great range. Thanks.
The V 40's look like they are spot on. I'll show my buddy, I'm pretty sure he will go that route.

Thanks for the input guys.

Bruce.
