New 17 inch Rallys/Painted White Letters

I am looking to get some opinions on my Wheel/Tire setup. Do you like the painted White Letters or should they be removed? Also, what are your thoughts on the dark centers of the rally wheels? Both can be changed, just wanted to hear some opinions/preferences.

I will post better pictures later, these are from my phone.

Re: New 17 inch Rallys/Painted White Letters

Your phone actually takes fairly good pictures... I can't comment on the letters because I can't see the outline of the tire. Next pictures you take look at the cars shadow and take the pic's from the side that it's not visible. That way the tires won't get lost in the wheel well and shadow on the ground. As for the dark painted wheels I didn't care for them when I had them on the Nova and went back to Argent. Your's is the second Camaro I've seen recently with them dark and I don't think it looks bad like it did on the Nova.

I like it, but are the wheels painted the ralley wheel silver color? They look kind of gray in the photos.

Great advice on the photo quality(shadow). These are the only ones I have, but will take a better angle later. I'll also include some close-ups of the tires, thanks.

The wheel centers are painted charcoal. I thought it looked better than the argent silver, but looking for others' opinions. I think better photos will help, stay tuned.

I like it - very different. How do they look up close? Is the paint hard to remove if you change your mind? Now you've got me thinking about trying that on mine.... probably suits the rally wheels better, though...

Re: New 17 inch Rallys/Painted White Letters

They look great up close. I will take some new photos later in the week that shows better detail. I used a Sharpie paint pen(medium and thick tips). They are oil-based pens and apply fairly easy (30-40 minutes/tire). So far after a couple of cruises, they have held up well and Westley's White didn't take it off. If I remove the paint, I plan to use a lacquer thinner.

The wheels are 17X8 and 17X9 Wheel Vintique Steel Rallys. I ordered them through Summit with bare centers which can be painted the color of your choice. Backspace is 4.75" up front and 5" in the rear. Tires are BFG G-Force Sport 235/45/17 and 255/45/17. Hotchkis 2" drop front/1.5" drop rear leafs.

Re: New 17 inch Rallys/Painted White Letters

If you like the old school retro look stick with the white letters. Its retro and racey, personally I love it, I still have some youth in me. I prefer trim rings myself to the chrome lips.

The grey center adds more contrast but I will leave that up to you. I could take it or leave it but for my car I would go with the argent silver because I prefer a stock appearance. Most people wont be able to tell they are 17s but they grey stands out a little more imo.

BTW, nice work making those tires raised white letter. I would never have attempted it but now I know it can be done I may try it myself if I go with 17s. Danka.

Re: New 17 inch Rallys/Painted White Letters: UPDATED PHOTOS

Here are some better pictures. Hopefully this helps show the white letters better as well as the wheels. White letters really look nice in motion.

I like the raised white letter look. Good job on the letters. As far as the darker gray, it looks good with your color, I just like the original gray on my black car, JMO.

Re: New 17 inch Rallys/Painted White Letters

I think the white letters look great......as far as the gray centers go while I would not go as far as to say I don't like it I will say that I wouldn't pick it over the stock silver. It does look good either way.

Re: New 17 inch Rallys/Painted White Letters

Looks great. I kind of like the argent silver rallys but looking at your car the dark centers don't look bad. I like the white letters showing on the BFGs

Re: New 17 inch Rallys/Painted White Letters

Looks nice! The RWLs look better than I expected on such a short sidewall, but I prefer black sidewalls on 16" and larger rims. For the wheels, grey looks good but bright (argent) silver would look awesome to me.
