From Victory to Defeat... Ebay Fails me.

Ok no real info here just complaining....

My Favorite wheels are old school slot mags. I was able to pick some 14x7's locally for $75 and they are in amazing shape!

I also found a pair of unilug 15x10 for $110 on ebay! The wheels were a bit scuffed up, but I was more than willing to do the work to restore them. Well after two weeks of winning the auction and no response I finally ask the guy what's up? He emails me that he had the tires taken off and they damaged them so he's gonna send my money back....

So dissapointing! I thought I would have a full set to shine up and put on my car and now im stuck with just two fronts. Most likely the guy didnt want to part with them for so cheap so he made up a lame excuse ($60+50 for shipping)

Oh well back to the drawing board.

Re: From Victory to Defeat... Ebay Fails me.

What's the guys feedback? If it's good give him a break, chances are he is doing you both a favor by not shipping you damaged goods! Try looking at the cup as half full instead of half empty. When you do it sets the stage for more success stories than failures...

I have a friend that has the best luck in the world from where I see it but he doesn't get it! He gets all depressed because the week or two before he leaves for a long vacation his truck breaks down. Nobody wants the added expense of repairs dipping into the vacation funds but having his luck it happened at home with plenty of time to fix it before leaving. Anyone else it would have happened in the middle of the desert and require a 200 mile tow! Same guy gets a call a week before he leaves on a trip, the cabin he had reserved is not available because it's been damaged and needs repairs. The person that called him felt bad and gave him a number to call where he ended up in a nicer place for less money. If that was me I would not have found out about the cabin until I got to it and would have ended up in a flea infested hotel down a dark alley...

Anyway there are other wheels out there, you'll find the matching set and this just saved you arguing over shipping costs and getting a refund if they really were damaged...

I completely agree with everything you just said, and his feedback is decent so i am just gonna go neutral. The only thing that bugged me was is insane lack of response.

I definetly think you are right... I bet I will find better wheels out there as well. I am a firm believer in everything happening for a reason!

I think I have a pair of 15x8.5 slotted mags that the guy threw in with my 68 RS when I bought it a couple of years back. They have some big old ugly bald mud type tires on them. I will check when I get some time, but if they will fit your car you can have them.

That would rock! Thank you so much even for checking. Very much apprecated. 8.5s would be perfect for the back.

Very cool deal Nick...

Buff... The old school 8.5's have 3.75" or 4" backspacing which is about the same as the 10" wheels so not quite as deep dish but they won't stick out as far either. I have some vintage American Racing 200s wheels that will be going on my '72 Nova. They are 15x7 and 15x8.5, I really like the day 2 look of some of the old wheels and parts...

Hi David,
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you on the wheels. They appear to be unilug so I am sure they will fit although I never tried them on anything.
They look to be beat up pretty good so it may not be worth the effort to try & make them look presentable but they are yours free if you want them, all I ask is you cover the shipping cost and tire removal if need be.

here are a couple of pics let me know...

If he doesn't want them I do! Just let me know, but give him plenty of time to make up his mind.

Thanks

Re: From Victory to Defeat... Ebay Fails me.

Those look great! They are in better condition that the ones I had bought in many respects. I think they would polish up nice with a little elbow grease. I will pm you with my info and see how I can get you what you will need for shipping etc.
