Largest tire on tubbed 67 camaro fitment?

My camaro is tubbed in the back, but not a full blown pro street tub. I have run a 325/50/15 back there before and still have 2" to the inner frame rail. I see alot of camaros at the drag strip and in magazines running a much bigger/taller tire then the 325. In Popular Hot Rodding I believe, Ernie Gonzales's 67 is running a 315/60/15 that barley fits in the wheel well opening.

My questions is: How tall of a tire can you safely fit in a stock wheel well opening? How much room do you need from the bottom front and back of the wheel well openings? I am not concerned about width, I have the room. I just feel like I should be able fit a taller tire then 28"s in there. I recall a camaro here at National Trails in Columbus running a 295/60 MT which I believe is 29" tall.

What are the drag racers running? Here is a link to pics of his ride.

Thanks, Erik

I have 13.50 X 28 Et Streets on now with no problem. I used to run 11.50 X 28.5 Firestone slicks, a couple of times they rubbed on the front lower wheel well lip.
