I made a big mistake, Need advice

I made an expensive mistake. I bought a reproduction Rally wheel kit without consulting Team Camaro. I am now the unhappy owner of a 15x8, 4.0bs Rally Wheel Kit. After researching TC what I need is a 15x7, 4.5bs Rally Wheel Kit. Any suggestions? Please help!................
This sucks, I should have donr my research BEFORE purchasing! Damn It!

Can't be returned, even if they charge a restocking fee it might be worth it if you are truly unhappy.

It's been too long. I bought January 10, 2009 off the internet. Only opened one box to make sure they were 15x8's.

Put them in storage and buy the correct wheels. One day you may have that Chevelle or Corvette that needs those wheels! Of course, you can always put them back on Ebar or CL.

Re: I made a big mistake, Need advice

Have you contacted the seller & told them they are still in the boxes, never mounted? If you offered to swap them out for the correct set and pay all the shipping, maybe they would do it? Or sell them on one of the boards/craiglslist/ebay?

Re: I made a big mistake, Need advice

It's even worse. I not only bought the kit; I bought 3 extra rims. One for a spare, and two for slicks. So I actually have 7 stinkin' wheels........................

Scott, I have not tried that. I purchased from Heartbeat City. I'll try that tomorrow morning. I guess all he can say is no. The funny thing is, even though I purchased the wheels from Heartbeat City, they were shipped from the manufacturer here in California, not from Heartbeat City.

Re: I made a big mistake, Need advice

what you'd want is 15 x 8, 4 1/2" backspace

Re: I made a big mistake, Need advice

you can get a spacer to space it out a 1/2 inch and at the worst case put longer studs in. I would probably step up in diameter too but you could do it no problem.

Re: I made a big mistake, Need advice

With everything else stock I went with
- Wheels: 15X7 with 4" bs up front, 15X8 with 4.5" bs in the back
- Tires: 215/65/R15 up front, 245/60/R15 in the back
https://www.camaros.net/forums/album.php?albumid=225

They fit just inside an unrolled fender lip and I don't have any rubbing issues... I researched this extensively on Team Camaro and now that I have them on the car I would order the exact same thing again. With the 15X8 4.5"BS you could probably step up to a 255 tire if you wanted to.

You know, you might be ok with the 15X8 4"BS in the back with a 245 tire. The fronts would be tight but not necessarily impossible with the right tire choice.

I think a spacer would make it worse... He wants 4 1/2"BS and a 1/2" spacer would make his 4" backspacing change to 3 1/2".

Re: I made a big mistake, Need advice

Daryl, throw 'em on eBay. Yeah, you might be out some money at the end of the day. However, it's better than being stuck with SEVEN rims you can't use. As it's around the holidays/winter time, someone might pick them up for a project they're working on.

I can't tell if it's best to try to sell all 7 or sell 4 or 5, then the other 2 or 3.

In any event, it's worth a shot.

I just sold an Earlex Spray Station painter that I got from Eastwood. I hadn't used it, but because it had been over a year since I bought it, I couldn't return it. Bought it for $399 and sold it for $325. Yes, I lost money, but I was able to use that $ to purchase a nice compressor.

No think about it back of wheel to mounting pad. If you move your mounting face out a 1/2" with a spacer then you will have 4 + 1/2. Simple statics would say this is just as safe as not having one.
