Re: Best looking tire

Assuming the car is stock in appearance, bias ply tires with RWL is my preference for '68 & '69's. Redlines for '67's, though they can look good on the right SS '68 or '69 as well.

If it's a pro-touring build, then black-wall, low-profile radials with custom wheels.

If it's a hot-rod, then tall radials with RWL....

Just my opinions of course.

Re: Best looking tire

Stock I like the BFG T/A white letters. For custom look I love the KDWs the sickest tread pattern. Ofcourse I run $90.00 Raptors

Re: Best looking tire

To me it depends on the color, trim style, and look your going for.

The one red line that (Frank @ Prodigy ???) posted looked great for the car it was going on and the style they were after.

Re: Best looking tire

I prefer not to draw attention away from the car and to manufacturers names on tires so like blackwalls out as my preferred style in most cases.

But I can also easily see how people like the white letters exposed for a classic look on 15" wheels.

Redlines are an aquired taste that I haven't developed yet.

Re: Best looking tire

I agree, it's all personal preference.

On all my vehicles I have the tires mounted BSW (black side wall) just because I think the letter distracts from the look. For the 68 I had them mount the BFG's with the letters out on one wheel, bolted it up, and I didn't like it. Had it reversed and the other 3 mounted BSW. If I was running something like Coker's Goodyear Wide Oval remakes then maybe I'd go with letters out.... maybe.

Re: Best looking tire

There is no "best" look for tires, There are survivors and stock restorations with redline or white letter bias-plys that wouldn't look as cool without them. I like 15" 60 series radials black side out but depending on the manufacture don't mind seeing the RWL on others cars... If you are into say 17's and low profile tires I would not expect to see white letters...

Re: Best looking tire

Since I am a big fan of the original factory look it would be whatever came on the car originally from the factory. I currently have raised white letters on both my '69 and '78 Z28's as that's how they came when new.
