Re: Steel Wheels??

Nothing special as to the little bumps that hold the dog dishes on. Original copo wheels were coded XT or IF, but ~ CL EM UC and JZ ~ are also 14x7 and have almost the same offset but the wheel centers have a slightly different appearance. Wheel Vintiques can make you a set too if you want new ones. I'd take a dog dish cap with me if I were looking for 15 inch wheels though.

Hi John, The nature of forum boards is it may take hours or even a day before you get a reply. It's not like a chat room with people sitting live holding conversations. It can seem like that at times but typiclly give it half a day or over night and the replies will start coming in...

Re: Steel Wheels??

1969 copo Camaros came with 14x7 steel wheels or 15x7 ralleys.

Re: Steel Wheels??

I've never tried the dog dishes on 15 inch wheels, that's why I suggested you try them first if you want 15 inch rims.

Re: Steel Wheels??

John, I just went through the conversion from rallys to 14x7 wheels. I ended up with 6 IF wheels ( which are identical to the infamous XT's that go for about $300 ea if you an find them.) You need not spend that kind of money on a clone. I paid $300 for 6 of the IF wheels. They can be found.

See link below. Good luck. Jim in Cheyenne.

Re: Steel Wheels??

John...to be honest with you, I never looked for 15x7. I was going to be 14x7 or nothing. I've located 4 more and agreeded to a trade of a 350 4 bolt builder for his 4 wheels. I just have to drive up to get them and its close to 350 mile one way. I figure I could make some money off of them. The 350 was given to me.

Dyno John gave you some good info on codes for 14's. 15's i just dont know about but can bet that someone on this site does. The 14's have 3 hubcap bumps 10 1/8" apart. I've seen 14,s advertised on sleeze bay wih 4 bumps. Dont have any idea if th poverty caps fit them or not. If I had to guess about 15's, I'd say mid 70's gm station wagons.

explore www.wheelsvintique.com Summit sells them, or use to, in both 14 and 15. One more site that I talked to over thephone can make them. www.hubcaps.com I think.
Gookj Luck. Jim in Cheyenne.

Re: Steel Wheels??

All of the CL EM UC and JZ wheels have the four bumps, but the original 69-70 dog dish caps still work fine on them.

Re: Steel Wheels??

JR1969... COPO caps will fit on most GM OEM 15" steel wheels. 1980s Caprices are a good source for junkyard 15x6 wheels that work w/ factory dog dish caps.

BTW... I just moved to Shippensburg. Looks like we are neighbors.
