67 camaro front wheel backspace ?

hello,

I have 235/60/15 T/A radials for the front of my 67 camaro with the front end lowered (springs) 2" Can I use a 15x7 with 4" backspace. I see alot post on here saying 4.25 to 4.5. I already have these wheels and would like to go with them but, if they will set out to far or rub I will buy others.

thanks

Re: 67 camaro front wheel backspace ?

I run 18x7 with 4.25 BS. I also have 225/45 tires. The top outside of tire is pretty close to the fender lip. In theory, with your wider tire (235) and less back spacing (4.0), your tire will be even closer to fender lip and may cause some rubbing issues. How much closer? 235-225=10mm or 5mm (.20") on each side plus .25" due to less back space (4.25-4.0) so you are looking at 0.45" which could make a difference.
