255/60R15 or 275/60R15

I have a 67 camaro with stock suspension and aluminum subframe body mounts. Planning to put 15X8 w/ 4.25" backspace rally wheels on the rear. Which tires should I go with, 255/60R15 or 275/60R15? Any handling or rubbing issues with the 275s? I plan to get rear disc brakes to push the wheels a little out.

Re: 255/60R15 or 275/60R15

I've seen quite a few people running 255 on the back. 275 are MUCHO tall an may affect your take off feel and speedo accuracy, for what it's worth.

'67 rs - ordered new by my Grandfather
327 L30, K-K, Deluxe int, tach & gauges, 12 bolt posi, 4 speed.

I run a 255/60/R15 on my 67. With the correct 3.73 speedo gear in my muncie, and a autometer phantom speedo, @ 58 mph I am running 55. Its only off by 3 mph.

i have a tko 600 with a 3:55 posi. I plan to change the speedometer gear to correct the speedometer reading. If the take off feel will be affected then I may change to a 3.73 or 4.11.

Thanks. They are 15x8 vette wheels. I believe I have a 15x7s up front with 215/65/15s.

Re: 255/60R15 or 275/60R15

275's with a 15x8 4.25 bs will rub for sure. I run 275's with 15x8's and 4.5 bs and its a very tight fit. Go for the 255's.
