15x8 rear wheel backspacing

well my rear end is 1" narrower than stock and I want to run a 15x8 torque thrust II with a 275/60/15 m/t street radial.

For you guys with a 275/60/15 and a 15x8 wheel with 4.5" backspacing. Is there a 1/2" clearance towards the body of the car? If there is I hopefully shouldnt have a problem.

Re: 15x8 rear wheel backspacing

There is on mine, I could run a 275 but needed just a little more room so they wouldn't rub when hitting a hard dip in the road. I switched to 255s. You should have it made. 275s really fill up the wheel well nicely.

4.25" may be best for you ?

I have 15 x 8 with 4.5 BS and 275's... I can get my fingers between tire and wheelwell.

Re: 15x8 rear wheel backspacing

Doug,

Are you saying you can get your fingers between the tire and inner wheel well, or between the tire and the fender/wheel opening trim? Or both?

I'm wanting to go 15x8 Cragar SS wheels with 276/60/15s on the rear of my '69. But I'm also concerned about clearance.

Any pics?
