Blazer Wheels Didn't Fit

I am restoring a 68 RS. It originally had 4 wheel drums brakes and 14" wheels. I installed a set of 69 disc brakes on the front and a Right Stuff disc brake set on the rear. The car is nowhere near ready for the road, but I would like to get some wheels and tires on it so I can get it off the jackstands and turn it around for better access to work on the other side.
I knew the original 14" wheels would not fit, and I was told that 15" wheels from an S10 would work with the disc brakes I have.
I found a set of S10 wheels on Craigs List and they did not fit when I got them home. They hit the upper ball joint in the front and they do not clear the dust shield on the rear. The backspace is too large also.
Now the plan is to purchase some new wheels. I am thinking of going with 16" wheels, but I am not exactly sure which backspace would work.
Does anyone know if 4" or 4.5" backspace would work?
Sorry for the long post, I am just a little frustrated at myself for spending money on wheels I cannot use that will take up space in my garage until I can hopefully resell them on Craigs List.
Thanks

Re: Blazer Wheels Didn't Fit

I guess I will just flip a coin (heads = 4" backspace, tails = 4.5" backspace) and hope for the best.
If they don't fit, then I will add them to the list of stuff I will be selling.

Re: Blazer Wheels Didn't Fit

The backspacing depends on what width wheel you use, e.g. a 7 inch wheel will require less backspace then an 8". The are many posts of various combinations on here that work, I would suggest you start there.

68 RS Coupe 355/350 TH, Detroit Speed, Hotchkis, Vintage Air, 8.5" 3.42 posi 10-bolt, MagnaFlow 2 1/2" exhaust, etc.

I got some front wheels off a 90s camaro. Cleared my big brakes and I was able to roll her around the shop. Junkyard wheels were badly damaged but held air so they were free!

Re: Blazer Wheels Didn't Fit

sounds like you bought 4x4 wheels, they need to be from a 2wd...
