17x9 rev wheel

I am looking at purchasing a pair of 17X9 REV wheels.. they are polished 5 spoke like TT2's... They come in 5 in bs...Will this fit a 275/40/17 on the back of my 69? I will probably run a 255/45/17 for awhile until I change my gear ratio as the 275 will be much shorter than my 255/60/15 that I have on there now...

Then I am wondering about the front... they have 17X8 with 4.5 in bs... and I plan to run a 235/45/17... I think this will be close, I could also get 17X7's with 4.25 in bs.... but more concerned about the rear... I think it should work as everyone is running the 9.5's with 5.5 in bs, so naturally cut off 1/2 in width, cut out 1/2 in bs....

I think this is about the only way I can get my wheels and tires before Good Guys, which is July 3-5 because I can get a smoking deal and would really like to have a set of TT2's but they are way too expensive. The Hopsters I really like, but they are much too expensive at this moment, and I have to wait 6-8 wks for the Hopster to be made at the tune of almost $400 a pc!

No one?? Wow... thought someone would chime in on this one... Sorry to be a pain in the butt, but I am on a very tight budget and can buy these wheels for 154.00 ea... I think it would be a great deal, plus I really like the looks of them...

Re: 17x9 rev wheel

Backspace, once again, is WRONG. Unless you want to run tires that are too narrow for th wheel, those wheels will be too pushed out towards the outer fenders. If you want the best fitting, cheapest wheels out there right now, that I can actually recommend to a customer, the Foose Legend, or Monterey. With tires, they are 1500 bucks a set.

Thanks for the advice! So.. with a 17X9, what backspacing do I need? I don't have 1500 laying around right now to buy the Foose Legends... I do like the Nitrous that Foose has... pretty cool wheels..

I could have sworn someone on here was running these Rev wheels... with 17X9's and 17X8's or 7's, but I don't remember who.. I also remember that he was having problems with clearance in the front but not the rear... I have stock suspension, and I believe he had the Hotchki's or something like that... I'm not really interested in modifying my suspension...

I wouldn't be having this problem if I didn't get taken on Ebay for a 17X8 with 5.5"bs.. I knew that wouldn't work... it was advertised as 17X8 with 4.75" bs... which would have been perfect... but it was not to be... and the seller would never contact me back.

Re: 17x9 rev wheel

So... is there not a tire and backspacing combo that will work with a 17X9 wheel?

Re: 17x9 rev wheel

9" you need at least 5.25bs 255/45 will be OK if you need the height. Even taller 255/50.

Thanks Mitchell! So a 255/50 will go on a 9" rim? I am leaning more towards the 275/40 but maybe not right now until i get my rear end lowered an inch or two...

Yes, 255/50/17 will give you 27" and 10.4 section width, no need to go shorter unless thats what you want...

Re: 17x9 rev wheel

Not sure yet... 255's I think would look a little too tall for my liking... They look good on 15's but on 17's... not so much I would think... I did a post on the Hopster and the front tire and that one is a 225/50/17 which on the 17's I believe they look a little too tall... i am probably going to stick with the 235/45/17 in the front... not sure on the back yet...

If you think 27" would be to tall, I would lower it then do 235/45 and 275/40. If the car is not lowered the shorter tire will not fill the fender gap.IMO

Re: 17x9 rev wheel

Pics of my 255 / 50 / 17 rears on an 8" wide inch wheel. I think they fill the 67, 68 wheel wells better than a 275 / 40 should look good on a 69 also, with no rubbing issues.
