BF Goodrich TA Radials......

Just getting some tire prices today and I was told by a tire dealer that this tire is going to be discontinued......and to buy now before it is to late....Is it true or just a sales pitch?......I know it is not the best tire but it is reasonably priced and looks good as far as raised white letter rubber goes....

Anyone confirm or disprove this.....I looked on their website looks like it is still available....TA Radial raised wht letter

Thanks in advance....

Re: BF Goodrich TA Radials......

BFG sells a ton of these to guys like us, I've heard a few sizes mosly in 14" may be dropped but that's all. Goodyear is dropping quite a few sizes of the Eagle line this I have had confirmed. Firestone has most sizes in the Indy 500 too and they're no problem to get.

I was under the impression that BFG already quit making them and Coker now makes them like they do the Silverstones and others...

Re: BF Goodrich TA Radials......

As someone who mounted, balanced, installed, warrantied tires for most of the 1990's - IMHO the tread design may be discontinued and replaced with a different tread pattern. The BFG Radial T/A's are still an excellent seller.

Kelly & Goodyear discontinued their tread designs on certain tires over the past 10 - 20+ years and replaced them with something else.....The manufacturers realize the white letter market is still a sizable market and Camaro's used P215/65/R15 from 1982 - 1992 as a standard size....Many people replaced that size w/ P235/60/R15......I don't like white letters on a 3rd gen, but that's just me....

As the others said you may see certain sizes discontinued which means less of a supply which could lead to higher prices as fewer manufacturers carry them...Surprisingly the P215/65/R15 is not listed on the BFG website....God I am getting old!

FWIW Uniroyal & BF Goodrich merged around mid 1986 I think, and that merger created the Uniroyal/Goodrich tire company. Around 1990 Michelin completed the buy out of Uniroyal/Goodrich....And Goodyear has owned Kelly since the mid 1930's...I believe around Y2k Goodyear also bought Dunlop.

Re: BF Goodrich TA Radials......

I run BF Comp T/A P235/60/R15's on the Front and P295/60/R15's on the rear of my 70Z. Sadly the P295/60/R15's are impossible to get today. However Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/R series are available costing not much more, for instance:

Mickey Thompson 6654 Sportsman S/R, LT 26x12 R15, Radial $204 would be a good replacement for the P295/60/R15's on the rear and if you can these: Mickey Thompson 6642 Sportsman S/R, LT 29x15 R15, Radial $282

Re: BF Goodrich TA Radials......

Some sizes are no more. Due to sales (I guess). It always seems like no one wants a particular size until its gone. I still stock what is available. Coker repops some of the discontinued sizes in Mexico under the Silvertown label. He bought the molds from BFG.

Still have a set of these on my stock rally wheels but I went to the BFG T/A G-force tire. Its a lot better handling tire.

Can you get them for a 15" wheel?

BF's still avail in Canada...but decided after talking to a savey tire rep to go with the Firestone Firehawk, Indy500's next week... he said that this tire has a more progressive/updated tread. Plus also read the reviews in "Tire Rack" which rated the Hawks better in traction.

Classic tire but a very hard compound.
