'68 front tire fit

I currently have (4) 245/60/14s on 8" ralley rims on my '68. The tie rods rub slightly whenever there is any moderate cornering. Can I get away with 235s or should I go to 225s? The car has the original front discs as well.

Re: '68 front tire fit

What's the back spacing as that's the key every time? I run 225's on 18x7, 4.25 BS with no issues what so ever. Lot of guys on here run 235's on 8" inch rims with 4.5 BS and seem to get away with it.

Do you have dropped spindles?

Re: '68 front tire fit

Thanks for the quick replies.
The spindles are original and the backspacing is 4.5". The 245s are pushing the limits a tad too much.

Re: '68 front tire fit

Either should be fine. It's 215 65 15.
