5.5 inch backspacing on rims ?

2 15x8 Weld Prostar wheels with 5.5 inch backspacing ! This is the rims that are exactly like the ones i messed up on my 68. Now my question is - Does anyone know if these will fit my car ? Are 5.5 inch backspacing normal ? I am unsure of my inch backspacing ? Thank you

To measure the backspace on your old wheels just lay them face down, lay a straight edge across the wheel, and measure to the flange where it bolts to the axle.
Most go 4.5" while the plus size wheel guys get away with more...

Re: 5.5 inch backspacing on rims ?

This is a 17"x9.5" rim with 5.5" backspacing with a 275/40ZR17 tire. With an eight inch rim, it would most likely not fill out the wheel well on the outside very well. Imagine the edge of the rim in the pic pulled in another 1.5". Then if you somehow got a 275 tire on an 8" rim to try and fill the wheel well it would (to me anyway) look too bubbled out.

17/9.5 with 5.5 BS here also and they fit perfect.

would need an inch added to the outer barrels to push the tire out to look right IMO.

5.5" bs on an 8" wide rim is a bit to much I would say, especially in the front.
