size question

I currently have on my '67 15X7 rally wheels with BF Goodrich 255/60/15 on the rear.

These tires have bene on the car for about 111 years or so, so I think it's time to replace them. I really like how these tires fit/fill out the wheel well, but I have noticed some "rub marks" on the inside of the tires. I assum this is form the tire rubbing on the lower shock mount.

What does the BFG 235/60/15 l;ook lik e(compared ot he 255--will I notice a difference)? Will the smaller tire help the rubbing issue, or am I beter off just looking for two wheel swith 1/2 less backspacing (I do not know what my current back-space is)...

Re: size question

The difference is about 18-1/4 of an inch in width... Yes it will help the rubbing issue or may need a new pair of shocks as well. I personally would rather have the 255 vrs the 235 just for the wide look.

I have the same problem with my 285 and need to go with 275 series.

Re: size question

Keith the 255 raise the back of the car higher and fill the wheelwell more than 235. If you like that look you might consider splitting the difference and try 245. Highway rpms will go up too. My car in the photo below has 235 all around with 15x8 on the back.

Re: size question

To keep things simple, I have 245/50R16 on both my '67 and '96. No rub issues.
